This Privacy Policy explains how TapNPlay (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) handles information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS. By using TapNPlay, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Overview

TapNPlay is an education app that helps you scan text with your device camera, translate words, save them to a personal vocabulary list, and practice with learning games. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate our own user login system.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use the App, the following information may be processed:

Camera images. When you use the scan feature, the App uses your device camera to capture a live preview. A cropped region of the image that you align with the scan frame is sent over the internet for optical character recognition (OCR).
Handwriting images. In handwriting practice games, an image of what you draw on screen may be sent over the internet for text recognition.
Recognized text. Text detected from scans or handwriting may be sent for translation between supported languages (for example, English, Malay, and Chinese).
Vocabulary and progress data stored on your device. Words you save, level progress, unlock status, and related learning data are stored locally on your device. This data is not uploaded to our servers because we do not operate application servers for TapNPlay.
Device permissions. The App requests camera access for scanning and internet access for cloud recognition and translation.

We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or payment information through the App.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

Recognize text in scanned or handwritten content;
Translate recognized text;
Display results to you in the App;
Save vocabulary and learning progress on your device;
Provide text-to-speech playback for practice features;
Improve reliability and fix errors in the App.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

TapNPlay uses cloud services provided by Microsoft Azure to perform OCR and translation. When you scan text or submit handwriting for recognition, the relevant image and/or text is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to Microsoft’s services for processing.

5. Data Storage and Retention

On your device: Saved words, levels, and app settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the App.
On our servers: We do not store scan images, handwriting images, or translation results on servers we control.
At Microsoft Azure: Data sent for OCR or translation may be processed and retained by Microsoft according to Azure service configuration and Microsoft’s policies.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share data only with Microsoft Azure to provide OCR and translation features, or when required by law.

7. Security

We use encrypted HTTPS connections when communicating with cloud services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

Deny camera permission (scanning will not work);
Delete saved vocabulary and progress by clearing the App’s storage or uninstalling the App;
Stop sending data to cloud services by not using scan or handwriting recognition features.

9. Children’s Privacy

TapNPlay is designed for language learning and may be used by students, including children under parental or teacher supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiers from children.

10. International Data Transfers

If you use cloud recognition or translation, your data may be processed in countries where Microsoft operates data centers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
